XARION's optical microphone has been used to measure high-intensity ultrasonic fields in a Nature Photonics publication. Schrödel et al. from DESY Hamburg showed deflection of gigawatt-scale laser pulses in air. They used an ultrasonic wave in air to build an acousto-optic modulator.
